An ongoing project of crafting a digital ecosystem for Greek Orthodox Church in order to unify and create consistent digital identity nationwide.
My role & input
Ecctex is a niche-specific platform that allows church organizations to create websites, that solve a wide range of problems for church workers, save countless hours and automate bureaucratic procedures.
As a product designer my task was to define the goals, understand the challenges and create a system, based on given data. Ecctex began as a collaboration with St. Constantine & Helen Cathedral, so the first website was done for them. At this point the project is at a first out of four phases.
Problems to solve
- Greek Orthodox Church is at a digital disarray. Everyone does their own thing to the best of their abilities. As a whole, it lacks consistency.
- Priests & pastors spend extra hours solving bureaucratic issues for citizens.
- In order to book a service or a meeting with a priest, citizens need to be in personal contact with the person or visit the church.
- Church services and calendar events are often not listed on the website.
- Many churches don’t have a website, which makes it harder for them to be known and found.
- Existing websites often lack localization.
- Donations can only be made physically.
